These donations will help our friends who lost their homes in the Caldor and Tamarack Fires.
The Community Disaster Resource Center (CDRC) mission is to acquire and distribute public and private donations and grants to provide short-term emergency assistance, longer term aid, information, and other resources to residents of South Lake Tahoe displaced by disaster to ensure such residents have the basic necessities such as food, clothing, housing, and transportation.
The CDRC of South Lake Tahoe began serving the community by helping victims of the 2007 Angora Fire rebuild their lives and homes. We raised and distributed over $1 million to over 600 affected residents. We also supported the community through the distribution of clothes, gift cards for food and supplies, and even money for revegetation of lots. CDRC also organized many meetings to help the community move forward and recover from devastating losses.
The Caldor Fire has deeply impacted the Lake Tahoe Region. Properties have been destroyed and smoke damaged, and the locals who keep our businesses and restaurants running are still recovering from the impacts of COVID-19. Low income, under-insured, and uninsured residents are in need of help and support following this disaster.
